K-9 DEPUTY CLETE MATHIS - MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE PATROL DIVISION - 2 YEARS
My endorsement of Major Craig Allison for Sheriff is based upon my 27 years as a police officer. As most of you know I am the K9 Officer for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. My education consists of extensive training in narcotics, interdiction and K9 handling. My experience comes from working in the St. Louis communities in some of the most difficult areas that are impacted by narcotics and crime.

I have seen what can work and what can not work for a community. Craig's platform initiatives are what I have seen as successes in other communities. As he stated, it isn't about the "arrest" and the numbers, as that doesn't solve the problem only it is seen as a deterrent. Specifically, success for reducing drug issues in the county include 3 things:
-
Preventive: Community relationships and partnerships through education, training, and partnering with other agencies to bring support to community and schools.
-
Treatment: Behavioral health and substance abuse support for not only those individuals needing it but their families too.
-
Accessibility: Limiting the availability of narcotics within the community through deterrence and K9 program.
Please feel free to reach out to myself directly with any questions or additional information.
