PROTECT AND SERVE PLATE.jpg

I have been asked, on several occasions, if I am elected Sheriff, will there be any changes. I would have to say, with every newly elected official, a certain level of change should be expected. We live in a world of constant change. The Sheriff’s Office is in a constant state of transition and I believe it should always be in that position. The duties of your Sheriff and the Office that he or she holds, are continually changing, growing, and expanding as dictated by the legal system. As demographics and the political/social landscape change in response to crime and the economic realities, we too will change our policies, procedures, and our response to any given situation.

I plan to move the Sheriff’s Office forward and build upon that ever changing foundation that has been continually built upon by the previous Sheriffs of Montgomery County. As Sheriff Schoo stated in his retirement letter, “𝑪𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒈 𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑶𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅. 𝑯𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒇 𝑫𝒆𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒚. 𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒆 𝒂 𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒏. 𝑰 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒂 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅. 𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑰 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒈𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒐𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔.”

My plan will consist of numerous goals that I will present to the citizens over the next several weeks. The goals I set within this plan will not be achieved overnight, it will be a process that we will ensure the staff understands, has a voice in, and is heard.

With that being said, the goals, objectives, and strategies presented in my plan must remain relevant to our community’s needs. This will require, at a minimum, periodic re-evaluations and possible revisions, based upon feedback and assessments. I always set my goals high and strive for excellence. Several years ago I found a note taped to the window of my patrol car. To this day I do not know who wrote this note, but I keep it pinned to my bulletin board in my office as a reminder. The note read, “𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒂 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒊𝒎, 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒙𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒈𝒂𝒛𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒈𝒐𝒂𝒍 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉, 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆.” ― 𝑶𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒘𝒆𝒕𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏

When elected Sheriff, I pledge to; 𝑺𝑬𝑹𝑽𝑬 the communities of Montgomery County; 𝑺𝑨𝑭𝑬𝑮𝑼𝑨𝑹𝑫 lives and property; 𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑻𝑬𝑪𝑻 the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and 𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑷𝑬𝑪𝑻 the Constitutional Rights of all to Liberty, Equality and Justice.
